Rumours circulating on social media alleging the death of former Anambra Governor, Chief Willie Obiano, have been firmly dismissed as false, with Governor Chukwuma Soludo clarifying that there is no truth to the claims.
In a statement released by his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, Soludo dismissed claims that Obiano had died in a London hospital, describing the reports as malicious and entirely untrue.
He noted that he had personally spoken with Obiano and could affirm that the former governor was alive and in good health.
Soludo condemned the rumour, expressing deep concern over what he termed a reckless and irresponsible act. He urged media practitioners, particularly online platforms, to uphold journalistic ethics by verifying information through official channels before publishing.
The governor described the circulation of unverified death rumours as “wicked, irresponsible, and damaging to public trust.” He urged the public to ignore the trending claims, assuring that Willie Obiano is alive, well, and in good condition.
He further extended his best wishes to the former governor, praying for continued strength, peace, and a long, fulfilling life.
