The Ondo State Police Command has arrested six men accused of posing as pastors and defrauding residents of Idanre Local Government Area through staged miracles and spiritual scams.
The suspects Fadahunsi, Kolade, Tijani, Iyanuoluwa, Arijesulola, and Ademola were apprehended following an intelligence-led operation carried out by the Command’s Tactical Teams in collaboration with Community Safety Officers on February 16, 2026.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Kazeem, the suspects were caught after police received multiple complaints from residents who had been duped by promises of miraculous interventions.
Officers monitored the suspects’ activities over several days, gathering evidence of their fraudulent operations before moving in to arrest them.

“Preliminary investigations reveal that the suspects staged fake miracles and promised divine solutions to financial, health, and personal problems, all to obtain money and valuables from victims under false pretences,” Kazeem stated.
Investigators disclosed that the group operated in a coordinated manner, assigning specific roles to each member to enhance the illusion of spiritual authority.
Efforts are ongoing to determine the total number of victims, quantify the financial scale of the fraud, and apprehend any accomplices still at large.
“All suspects are currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon conclusion of the investigation,” Kazeem added.
The police have warned residents to be cautious of individuals exploiting religion or miraculous claims to commit fraud.
