The manager of Nigerian singer Simi has dismissed reports circulating online that she and her husband, Adekunle Gold, are heading for divorce, describing the claims as completely false.
Simi’s manager, Vincent, said the rumour originated from a forged document that was shared widely on social media and presented as a divorce petition allegedly filed by Adekunle Gold.
The document, dated February 28, 2026, claimed that the couple’s marriage had “irretrievably broken down” and included allegations of prolonged emotional, financial, and professional control. It also reportedly sought the dissolution of the marriage and proposed joint custody arrangements for their child.
Some online posts further claimed that the petition had been filed at the Lagos State High Court.
However, Vincent insisted the document was fabricated, pointing out several legal inconsistencies that indicate it is not authentic.
“It’s fake and fabricated. Stage names are not acceptable in any court of law, yet they appear in the document. Also, the suit number listed is backdated to 2024 (SUIT NO HCL/FC/2024/0178), which raises further doubts about its authenticity,” he said.
