
Residents of Gboko, the headquarters of Gboko Local Government Area in Benue State, were thrown into shock on Monday after a young man operating a Point-Of-Sale (POS) business was shot dead by armed robbers.
Sources revealed that the victim was attending to customers when the attackers stormed the premises and opened fire. In the chaos, the gunmen made away with an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the scene.
An eyewitness, who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the attack as sudden and terrifying. “It happened so fast. We never imagined such violence here,” the witness said.

The community has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of the young man, describing him as hardworking and determined to make a living through the POS business.
Residents have extended condolences to the family and prayed for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
As of the time of reporting, the Benue State Police Command, including spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet, had not confirmed the incident.
However, sources indicate that investigations have begun to track down the attackers.
The tragic incident adds to growing concerns about security in Gboko, highlighting the risks faced by small business operators in the area.
