Shettima Leaves Abuja for Guinea-Conakry for the Presidential Swearing-In

Vice President Kashim Shettima has departed Abuja for Guinea-Conakry to attend the presidential swearing-in ceremony of President-elect Mamadi Doumbouya.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Friday by his media aide, Stanley Nkwocha. According to the statement, the Vice President’s visit forms part of Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement in the West African sub-region and its commitment to regional stability.

The inauguration ceremony is scheduled to take place on Saturday, January 17, at the GLC Stadium in Nongo, Conakry, following Doumbouya’s victory in the recently concluded election.

Nkwocha noted that Shettima’s presence at the event aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s “Renewed Hope” agenda, particularly in strengthening regional leadership, economic cooperation, and global economic integration.

The statement further explained that Nigeria, as a leading member of ECOWAS, continues to support Guinea’s return to constitutional order after a four-year political transition.

Beyond diplomatic solidarity, the visit is also expected to deepen bilateral economic relations between both countries. Recent trade figures show an increase in Nigerian exports to Guinea, especially in manufactured goods and agricultural products, valued at approximately $3.29 million.

After the inauguration, Vice President Shettima is expected to proceed to Davos, Switzerland, where he will represent Nigeria at the 56th Annual Meeting of the World Economic Forum.
