Veteran Nollywood actress Shaffy Bello has revealed the personal reason behind her decision to undergo a medical procedure that stopped her from having more children.
Speaking on her YouTube platform, Shaffy Bello TV, the actress reflected on her journey through motherhood and explained that she chose to permanently prevent further pregnancies because she did not want a large family.
According to the actress, she made the decision about 26 years ago after carefully considering the kind of life and family structure she desired.
Although her former husband hoped they would have more children, Bello said she remained firm in her choice.
She disclosed that the procedure involved doctors accessing her abdomen through the navel to tie her fallopian tubes, a process that prevents eggs from being released for fertilization and ultimately stops pregnancy.

Bello said the decision was a deliberate one and something she never felt pressured to change. For her, it was about maintaining control over the size of her family and focusing on raising the children she already had.
Adding a lighthearted remark, the actress joked that if she ever became pregnant after the procedure, she would consider it nothing short of a miracle, comparing it to a “holy child.”
Her revelation has sparked conversations about family planning, personal choice, and motherhood, especially among women navigating similar decisions about the size of their families.
