Liverpool have been dealt a significant setback ahead of their Premier League clash with Brighton, as star forward Mohamed Salah has been ruled out with a muscle injury.
The Egyptian attacker picked up the injury during Liverpool’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Galatasaray at Anfield, a result that secured their place in the UEFA Champions League quarter-finals.
Salah had earlier found the net before being forced off, raising immediate concerns about his fitness.
Speaking ahead of the trip to Brighton, Liverpool manager Arne Slot confirmed the development, describing the situation as unusual and confirming that the 33-year-old will not be available for the match.
The absence of Salah comes at a crucial time for Liverpool, who are pushing hard to secure a top-four finish and a place in next season’s Champions League.

His recent return to form, with goals in three of his last four starts, makes the setback even more significant for the Reds.
Slot, however, expressed cautious optimism about Salah’s recovery, noting the forward’s strong fitness discipline and history of bouncing back quickly from injuries.
He added that the upcoming international break could provide the necessary window for recovery, although it means Salah will miss out on representing Egypt during that period.
Liverpool currently sit fifth in the Premier League table, just two points behind fourth-placed Aston Villa, with the race for Champions League qualification heating up.
The Reds will also have one eye on their upcoming FA Cup quarter-final clash against Manchester City on April 4, where Salah’s fitness could prove crucial.
