Ruben Amorim Dismissed as Manchester United Head Coach

Manchester United have announced the dismissal of head coach Ruben Amorim following a dramatic decisioan confirmed in a club statement on Monday, January 5, 2026.

The Portuguese manager, who took charge of the Red Devils in November 2024, was relieved of his duties amid mounting dissatisfaction over the team’s recent performances, as well as remarks he made that reportedly exposed growing internal tensions at Old Trafford.

Reports indicate his sacking came less than 24 hours after he publicly criticised the club’s hierarchy during a press conference following a 1–1 draw with Leeds United.
