Reverend Accuses Muslims He Sheltered of Betrayal in Family Tragedy

Rev. Ezekiel Dachomo, the Regional Chairman of the Church of Christ in Nations (COCIN) in Barkin Ladi, Plateau State, has shared a deeply troubling account of betrayal and violence that he says his family endured from individuals he once assisted.

In a video shared by the advocacy group Equipping the Persecuted, Rev. Dachomo explained that he had taken in a group of stranded people, offering them food and shelter out of compassion.

According to him, despite living peacefully under his roof and having access to his home and church premises, members of the same group later carried out violent attacks against his family.

He alleged that these attacks led to the death of close relatives and the destruction of the homes and lives of several community members. Rev. Dachomo described the experience as a heartbreaking contradiction: offering hospitality, only to be met with violence.

He also claimed that repeated attacks have been carried out on his village over time, while his community has not retaliated. He further mentioned ongoing disputes over land, saying that reclaiming parts of their ancestral land has become difficult due to insecurity.

Rev. Dachomo appealed to the Senate Committee handling security matters to intensify efforts to ensure displaced families can safely return to their communities. According to him, many affected residents have stayed silent for too long and can no longer endure the losses.

He also criticized individuals who, in his view, downplay or deny the severity of the violence happening in Plateau State, saying that accountability is necessary for healing and justice.
