Cristiano Ronaldo
Former Arsenal midfielder Anders Limpar has urged Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo to consider retiring once he reaches the 1,000-goal milestone, warning that continuing his career could risk diminishing his legacy.
Ronaldo, who currently plays for Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr, remains active at the highest level despite being 41, continuing to deliver impressive performances and defying expectations around age and longevity in football.
His current contract with Al-Nassr runs until 2027, and although he has hinted in recent interviews that retirement may not be far off, he has not confirmed a specific timeline for ending his playing career.

Speaking in an interview with NewBettingSites.uk, Limpar praised Ronaldo’s extraordinary achievements but questioned the idea of a late-career move to Major League Soccer (MLS), suggesting it would be a difficult environment at his age.
Limpar noted that while MLS continues to grow, it remains highly competitive, and advised Ronaldo to prioritize his legacy by stopping after reaching the long-sought 1,000-goal mark.
He added that no player has matched Ronaldo’s level of achievement, but insisted the Portuguese forward should “accept reality and retire” after reaching the milestone, rather than extending his career further.
Ronaldo recently returned from a hamstring injury, featuring for Al-Nassr on April 3, where he scored twice in a 5–2 win over Al-Najma, taking his career tally to 967 goals.
