Supporters and critics of former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai converged at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) headquarters in Abuja on Monday, creating a tense atmosphere outside the anti-graft agency’s Jabi office.
The protest saw a mix of demonstrators, with some expressing support for El-Rufai, while others called for a thorough investigation into his activities.

Despite the large turnout, observers reported that the gathering remained largely peaceful.
There was brief drama when security personnel reportedly prevented some members of El-Rufai’s entourage from entering the EFCC premises.
Nevertheless, El-Rufai later honored the commission’s invitation, entering the facility for questioning.
This visit follows a failed attempt by EFCC to arrest him at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport last Thursday.
His legal team had previously confirmed that he would comply with the commission’s summons.
Protesters continued to demonstrate outside the EFCC gates as the former governor engaged with investigators. Further details are awaited.
