
The President of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE), Engr. Ali Alimasuya Rabiu, FNSE, F.ASCE, FAEng, MFR, has formally declared the commencement of the Society’s journey to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno State, for the 2026 International Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting (AGM).
The President made the declaration shortly after successfully completing his registration for the flagship event at the National Engineering Centre (NEC) headquarters in Abuja.
Present to witness the registration were, Past President of NSE, Engr. Tasiu Gidari-Wudil, FNSE, mni; the Chairman of the Conference Planning Committee (CPC), Engr. Mohammed Kabiru Wanori, FNSE; the CPC Alternate Chairman, Engr. Adeola Agoro, FNSE and the Acting Executive Secretary, Abdulkadir Aliyu, MNIM.
Speaking after completing his registration, Engr. Rabiu stated:
“I have just finished my registration successfully for the 2026 International Engineering Conference and Annual General Meeting taking place in Maiduguri towards the end of this year. This therefore indicates that the journey to Maiduguri has just begun.

“I want to urge my Executive Committee Members in particular and all Engineers in general, to follow suit and register for the Conference immediately. The early-bird registration window will soon close, after which a higher registration fee will apply. Let us take advantage of the early-bird opportunity and register without delay
“Maiduguri promises a lot, exciting experiences, new innovations and a Conference like we have never seen before, there are no security concerns, the town is peaceful and not vulnerable, I have been there several times and even spent my 2025 Christmas holiday in the city, visiting various areas without witnessing any unfortunate situation.
“I am therefore calling on all Engineers to come to Maiduguri in November 2026”.
The 2026 International Engineering Conference and AGM is expected to attract Engineers, policymakers, industry leaders and stakeholders from across Nigeria and beyond underscoring the Society’s continued commitment to professional excellence and national development.
