Police reveal reasons behind Regina Daniels’ brother’s arrest

Police in the Federal Capital Territory have given reasons for the arrest of Samuel Ojeogwu, popularly known as Sammy West, the brother of Nollywood actress Regina Daniels.

Arrested in Lagos last week and transferred to Abuja, Samuel Ojeogwu’s case drew public attention after his sister, Regina Daniels, took to social media accusing the police of bias toward her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko, and maintaining her brother’s innocence.

But on Friday, FCT Police spokesperson SP Josephine Adeh clarified that the arrest was legitimate and carried out in accordance with due process.

Adeh stated that multiple police invitations had been sent to Ojeogwu, but he ignored them. His arrest, she noted, stemmed from a formal petition alleging criminal conspiracy, trespass, assault, intimidation, theft, and cyberbullying involving him and three others.

According to her, the FCT Metro Area Command received the petition on October 28, 2025, and after Ojeogwu repeatedly failed to honour the invitations, he was arrested in Lagos with a valid court warrant and transferred to Abuja for further investigation.

Adeh further disclosed that upon the conclusion of investigations, Ojeogwu was arraigned in court on November 6, 2025, on the stated charges. She noted that the court ordered his remand pending the fulfillment of his bail conditions, emphasizing that the police remain committed to professionalism, due process, and the rule of law.
