Police Record Breakthrough, Arrest Attackers of Ngige’s Convoy

The Anambra State Police Command has recorded a major breakthrough with the arrest of members of a criminal gang linked to the attack on the convoy of former Minister of Labour and Employment, Senator Chris Ngige.

Police operatives from the Rapid Response Squad (RRS), Awkuzu, acting on credible intelligence, intercepted the suspects during an operation at the Enugwu Agidi junction.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the five-man gang was believed to be involved in armed robbery and cult-related activities, with alleged links to a proscribed secessionist group.

Ikenga said the suspects engaged the operatives upon sighting them, leading to a gun battle. During the encounter, two suspects were fatally injured, while three others escaped with gunshot wounds.
