
The Ondo State Police Command has arrested two suspects in connection with a stolen vehicle and successfully recovered the car in Akure, the state capital.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Tuesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh.
According to the statement, the arrests followed a thorough investigation into a case involving conspiracy, theft, and receiving stolen property.
The case was initially reported on February 27, 2026, by the vehicle owner, Adeyemi Robert. He revealed that his Toyota Camry, bearing registration number AH173WWD and painted in a custom colour, was stolen on February 14, 2026.
The incident occurred while he attended a social event at Sijuade Street in Akure, where the car had been parked.
Upon discovering the theft, the police launched an immediate investigation, deploying intelligence gathering and strategic tracking methods to recover the vehicle and apprehend those responsible.
Their efforts paid off when the stolen car was traced to a 40-year-old suspect, Awolo Akingbade, who was found in possession of the vehicle. He was promptly taken in for questioning.

Further investigation led to the arrest of the principal suspect, Adeyemi David, who was alleged to have stolen the vehicle and sold it to Akingbade.
Police authorities confirmed that the recovered Toyota Camry has been secured as evidence, while both suspects have provided useful information to aid ongoing investigations.
Following the conclusion of the investigation, the suspects have been formally charged in court.
Commending the operatives for their professionalism and diligence, the Commissioner of Police in Ondo State, CP Adebowale Lawal, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to safeguarding lives and property.
He also issued a stern warning to individuals involved in criminal activities to desist or face the full weight of the law.
The Command further urged residents to remain vigilant and support law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information to help curb crime across the state.
