
The Oyo State Police Command has arrested 10 individuals suspected of operating a document forgery syndicate in Ibadan, the state capital.
The suspects were apprehended during a coordinated raid by the Command Monitoring Unit at a hideout in the Ogunpa area, following credible intelligence and community collaboration.
According to the Police Public Relations Officer, Ayanlade Olayinka, the operation was launched after authorities received actionable intelligence on April 9 about a group involved in forging official documents, stamps, and certificates belonging to government agencies, private organisations, and financial institutions.
Acting swiftly, operatives carried out a targeted raid that led to the arrest of the suspects, identified as Mumini Akanbi (62), Quadri Muhammed (31), Salami Tajudeen (50), Oladipupo Hammed (45), Oladipupo Taiwo (40), Olorun Sebi Kazem (42), Fatai Akanni (54), Alamu Kazeem (60), Olalekan Afeez (42), and Alex Olanrewaju (64).
During the operation, search warrants were executed at their operational bases, leading to the recovery of several incriminating items.

These include a fake Police Character Certificate, stamps of the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Ogun State CID Eleweran office stamp, Iyaganku Area Command stamps, Divisional Police Officer stamps, as well as stamps belonging to Oyo State ministries, banks, and private organisations.
Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspects are part of a well-organised syndicate engaged in producing and distributing forged documents for impersonation and other criminal activities.
The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspects have confessed to their involvement and are currently assisting authorities with further investigations.
He added that efforts are ongoing to uncover other members of the network and bring them to justice.
