
Calm has returned to Alwasa Village in Argungu Local Government Area of Kebbi State after a violent communal clash during the Sallah celebrations left at least one person dead and several others injured.
The incident, which occurred on Monday, March 23, 2026, reportedly started as a disagreement among youths before escalating into a broader confrontation.
According to the Kebbi State Police Command, one of the injured victims later died while receiving treatment at the General Hospital in Argungu. The death is said to have triggered a reprisal attack, resulting in additional casualties.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, confirmed that security operatives had restored order in the area.

“The security situation in Alwasa Village is now under control following the prompt deployment of police personnel and reinforcement teams who remain on ground to maintain law and order,” he said.
The Commissioner of Police, Umar M. Hadejia, condemned the violence and warned that anyone found engaging in unlawful acts would be dealt with decisively.
He also urged residents to remain calm, avoid spreading unverified information, and refrain from taking the law into their own hands.
Security operations are ongoing, while investigations continue to determine the full circumstances surrounding the clash.
