
The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 27-year-old man, Chidi Ebere, for the alleged murder of a commercial motorcyclist in Igbesa.
The victim, identified as 36-year-old Sunday Ogbu, was reportedly killed in the early hours of Wednesday, April 8, 2026, at about 7 a.m.
According to police reports, the suspect posed as a passenger and boarded the victim’s motorcycle before attempting to hijack it.
The situation quickly escalated into a violent confrontation, during which the suspect allegedly stabbed the rider.
A witness at the scene reportedly raised an alarm, prompting a swift response from officers of the Igbesa Division.
The victim was rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical attention but was later confirmed dead by the attending doctor.

The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Thursday, noting that the suspect was apprehended at the scene.
The motorcycle and the knife used in the attack were recovered as evidence.
The case has since been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) in Eleweran, Abeokuta, for further investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the act, describing it as senseless and criminal.
He assured the public that justice would be served and urged residents to remain vigilant.
