Peace Deal Violated: Bandits Massacre Residents in Malumfashi, Katsina

Bandits have reportedly violated a recent peace agreement in Katsina State after launching fresh attacks on several communities in Malumfashi Local Government Area.

The assailants were said to have invaded Unguwar Alhaji Barau, Gidan Dan Mai-gizo and Gidan Hazo in Na’alma Ward on Monday night, during which a number of residents were killed and injured, while others were abducted.

The incident was disclosed by security analyst and crisis reporter, Bakatsine, who shared the development via his X handle.

He questioned the status and credibility of the peace deal earlier entered into with the bandits by community leaders in the area, noting that the renewed violence contradicts the reported understanding reached with the attackers.

Residents of the affected communities said the latest assault follows a recurring pattern in Katsina, where bandits agree to ceasefire arrangements only to later renege and resume violent raids.

According to them, the repeated breach of such agreements has deepened fear and uncertainty among villagers, many of whom now doubt the effectiveness of dialogue-based approaches to security.

The attack has triggered renewed calls for stronger government intervention, with community members urging the Katsina State Government and security operatives to respond decisively and implement lasting security measures to protect lives and property in Malumfashi and surrounding areas.
