Troops of Operation HADIN KAI under the Joint Task Force (North East) have killed 25 Boko Haram and ISWAP fighters during coordinated attacks in parts of Borno State, while one soldier lost his life and several others sustained injuries.
The attacks, which occurred on the night of February 20, 2026, targeted Limankara and Kukawa but were successfully repelled by security forces. Military authorities said the incidents reflect increased pressure on terrorist camps, supply routes, and leadership structures across the North East.
According to Lt. Col. Sani Uba, Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, troops carried out precision strikes in Lamusheri Village, Gujba Local Government Area, identified as a major terrorist stronghold and logistics base. During the operation, 15 insurgents were killed, while their defensive positions were destroyed. Weapons, ammunition, and vehicles were either recovered or destroyed. Several fleeing fighters were believed to have escaped with gunshot wounds.
Earlier, suspected terrorists attempted to breach the Forward Operating Base in Limankara. Troops responded with coordinated ground and air operations, forcing the attackers to retreat with casualties. No soldiers were injured in that encounter.

In Kukawa, insurgents launched a multi-pronged assault using gun trucks, motorcycles, and foot soldiers from different directions. Security forces mounted a strong resistance backed by air support, destroying one gun truck and five motorcycles and killing 10 additional fighters. Troops also recovered rifles, loaded magazines, communication radios, stretchers, and discovered shallow graves reportedly left behind by the fleeing attackers.
Lt. Col. Uba praised the troops for their professionalism and bravery, stating that the operations have significantly weakened terrorist capabilities in the region. He noted that sustained air and ground offensives continue to disrupt insurgent logistics and limit their movement, improving security for local communities.
He confirmed that while one soldier died in the line of duty, injured personnel are receiving medical care and are in stable condition. The military, he added, remains committed to dismantling terrorist networks and restoring lasting peace across Borno State and the wider North East.
