Maduka Okoye
Nigeria’s preparations for their final international friendly against Jordan have suffered another blow, with goalkeeper Maduka Okoye ruled out due to a thigh injury sustained in training.
The Super Eagles media team confirmed that the shot-stopper picked up a knock and will miss Tuesday’s encounter in Antalya, Turkey.
His absence leaves head coach Eric Chelle with a decision to make between Francis Uzoho and Adebayo Adeleye as he searches for a reliable option between the posts.
Okoye’s injury adds to an already growing list of absentees in camp.
Defenders Semi Ajayi and Bruno Onyemaechi have both left the squad Ajayi due to injury concerns after missing a training session, while Onyemaechi departed following the birth of his child.
Earlier in the international window, Trabzonspor defender Chibuike Nwaiwu was drafted in as a replacement for Calvin Bassey, who was unable to join the team due to injury.

Despite these disruptions, the mood in camp remains upbeat. Nigeria began the series on a strong note with a 2-1 victory over Iran, thanks to goals from Moses Simon and Akor Adams.
The match also saw debuts for Nwaiwu and Emmanuel Fernandez, as Chelle continues to test new options ahead of the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The squad still boasts a mix of experience and youth, with captain Wilfred Ndidi, Alex Iwobi, and Simon providing leadership, while emerging talents like Yira Sor continue to push for opportunities.
A victory against Jordan would see Nigeria finish as champions of the four-nation tournament, offering a positive end to the international break despite the injury concerns.
