The Ogun State Police Command has commenced an investigation into the death of a female National Youth Service Corps member, Victoria Ariyo, who was serving in Abeokuta South Local Government Area.
Ariyo was reportedly said to have died following complications allegedly linked to a pregnancy termination. Her remains have since been buried at Kobape Cemetery along the Kobape-Sagamu Road in Abeokuta.
Her death comes barely one month after another corps member, Adeleye Mary, who was also serving in the same local government area, died under circumstances that are yet to be clearly determined.
The late Adeleye was said to have been working at a television station in the state capital before she was found lifeless in her residence close to her place of primary assignment.
Sources revealed that both deceased corps members were close friends, raising concerns among colleagues and residents over the back-to-back incidents.

A source familiar with the situation disclosed that while Adeleye’s cause of death remains unknown, Ariyo’s case has been linked to complications arising from an abortion procedure.
The source further alleged that a National Youth Service Corps official, said to have been romantically involved with Ariyo and connected to the pregnancy, has been taken into custody for questioning.
Confirming the development, the spokesperson of the Ogun State Police Command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, stated that the matter is currently under investigation by the State Criminal Investigation Department.
However, he declined to confirm any arrest in connection with the case.
Meanwhile, efforts to get an official response from the NYSC authorities proved unsuccessful.
The Ogun State NYSC Public Relations Officer, Emmanuel Igba, stated that he was unaware of the incidents due to being on leave, while attempts to reach the state coordinator through her aide were unsuccessful as of the time of filing this report.
