An NYSC official in Ogun State, Abass Olalekan, was arraigned on Monday at the Magistrate Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, over allegations connected to the death of a corps member, Victoria Ariyo.
The charges include conspiracy and unlawful procurement of abortion.
Victoria, who was serving in the state, reportedly died last Tuesday due to complications from an abortion procedure.
Olalekan, alleged to have been in a romantic relationship with the late corps member, was arrested following her death.
The charge sheet, marked MA/22/99/2026, accuses Olalekan of conspiring to commit a felony and supplying drugs to unlawfully procure an abortion, offenses punishable under Sections 516 and 230 of the Ogun State Criminal Code, 2006.

Appearing before Magistrate A. K. Araba, Olalekan pleaded not guilty to all charges. His counsel, Elizabeth Adelabu, applied for bail, which was granted in the sum of ₦500,000 with two sureties.
One surety must be a blood relative, while the other must be gainfully employed. Conditions include submitting a utility bill, six passport photographs, a deposition to an affidavit of means, and proof of 2026 tax payment to the Ogun State Government.
Olalekan will remain at Ibara Correctional Centre until the bail conditions are perfected. The case is adjourned to April 14, 2026 for further hearing.
The Ogun State Police confirmed that investigations are ongoing into Ariyo’s death. Sources say this tragedy follows the mysterious death of another corps member, Adeleye Mary, who also served in Abeokuta South Local Government Area and was friends with Victoria.
Ariyo was laid to rest at Kobape Cemetery, Abeokuta.
Police are continuing efforts to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the deaths of the corps members.
