Nkechi Blessing
Actress Nkechi Blessing Sunday has criticised what she calls the hypocrisy surrounding discussions about women’s bodies and cosmetic surgery.
In a video posted on Instagram on Wednesday, the Nollywood actress called out men who previously mocked women for their physical appearance but now promote messages about body acceptance and natural beauty.
According to Blessing, years of body-shaming and ridicule created the pressure that led many women to consider cosmetic procedures, especially the Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).

She argued that constant criticism of women for not having certain body features—such as larger hips or buttocks—played a major role in the growing popularity of enhancement surgeries.
Blessing said many women opted for BBL procedures because they were repeatedly insulted or bullied about their bodies. She described it as contradictory for the same critics to now discourage cosmetic surgery while preaching self-acceptance.
The actress also emphasised that she has no intention of altering her body to satisfy public opinion. She insisted that online criticism or insults would not influence her personal decisions.
Blessing added that women should be free to decide what they want to do with their bodies without being judged by society.
While she did not rule out surgery completely, the actress explained that any future procedure would only be for health reasons, such as weight-loss surgery, rather than cosmetic enhancement like BBL.
She concluded by urging people to stop criticising women for the choices they make about their bodies.
