The Federal Government has introduced a new initiative that allows Nigerians to book domestic flights and pay later, in a move aimed at easing the financial burden of air travel.
The scheme, known as “Fly Now, Pay Later,” was unveiled by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) as part of efforts to expand access to affordable credit and improve mobility across the country.
According to the agency, eligible travellers can now secure flight tickets without making immediate full payment, instead repaying the cost over time through structured financing.
How it works
To access the scheme, interested individuals are required to visit the Visaro platform, where they can select their preferred local flight.
Applicants will then undergo a verification and credit assessment process to determine eligibility.
Once approved, the cost of the ticket is financed through the scheme, allowing the traveller to fly immediately while repaying the amount in instalments over an agreed period.

Payments are managed through the partnering financial institution, ensuring structured and flexible repayment plans.
CREDICORP explained that the initiative is designed to remove the upfront cost barrier that often prevents Nigerians from embarking on urgent or important trips.
The programme is being implemented in partnership with MyVisaro and Alert Microfinance Bank, providing a platform for users to easily access the service and spread payment over time.
The agency noted that the initiative aligns with its broader goal of promoting financial inclusion and enabling Nigerians to access essential services without undue financial pressure.
The launch comes amid growing concerns over the rising cost of domestic flights, which has made air travel increasingly unaffordable for many citizens.
During peak travel periods, ticket prices have surged significantly, with some one-way fares exceeding ₦300,000.
Airlines have blamed the high fares on factors such as the rising cost of aviation fuel, foreign exchange challenges, and increasing operational expenses.
With the introduction of the scheme, the Federal Government hopes to make air travel more accessible while offering Nigerians greater financial flexibility.
