Authorities in Kenya have arrested a Nigerian national alongside a Kenyan accomplice over alleged involvement in a narcotics trafficking operation.
The arrests followed a coordinated, intelligence-driven operation carried out by the Anti-Narcotics Unit in collaboration with the Transnational Organised Crime Unit.
According to officials, the operation was launched after credible intelligence revealed that the suspects were planning a drug exchange in Syokimau, Machakos County.
However, upon arrival at the initial location, operatives discovered that the planned meeting had been called off. Acting swiftly on fresh intelligence from undercover sources, the team redirected the operation to Ruaka in Kiambu County, where the suspects were eventually tracked down.

A search conducted at an apartment in the area led to the recovery of suspected narcotics, packaged substances, digital weighing scales, mobile phones, foreign passports, and cash in both Kenyan and Nigerian currencies.
The suspects were identified as Okeke Ikechukwu, a Nigerian, and Alex Opondo, a Kenyan. They have since been taken into custody and moved to Ruaraka and Pangani Police Stations for further processing.
Authorities confirmed that all recovered items have been secured for forensic examination, while investigations continue to uncover other members of the network.
The suspects are expected to be charged in court as efforts intensify to dismantle the wider drug trafficking ring.
