Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan: I’m Ready to Prove My Case Against Akpabio

Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan has announced that she is fully prepared to defend her claims in court as she faces a ₦200 billion defamation suit filed by Senate President Godswill Akpabio.

Her statement comes after she confirmed receiving the lawsuit, which she says finally gives her the opportunity she was previously denied by the Senate

’s Ethics and Privileges Committee. According to her, the courtroom will now serve as the platform to present her side of the matter in full.

Akpabio’s suit alleges that her public statements gravely damaged his reputation, demanding major financial compensation, retractions, and multiple nationwide apologies.

Documents from the FCT High Court show that the Senate President is also seeking the removal of all online materials containing the allegations.

A court order issued on November 6 allowed the lawsuit to be served through the Clerk of the National Assembly after earlier attempts reportedly failed.

With both sides now preparing for trial, the case is shaping up to become one of Nigeria’s most watched political legal battles.
