Veekee James and Husband
Fashion designer Veekee James has made it clear that in her marriage, her husband, Femi Atere, is not permitted to have a female best friend.
Speaking on the Off the Top podcast with VJ Adams, James explained that she believes she should be the closest woman to her husband, noting that this boundary helps maintain harmony in their home.
She added that while she has no issue with other men having female best friends—provided their partners are comfortable with it—her husband is an exception.
“A man can have a female best friend, but my man, Femi Atere, can never have one. I’m his only best friend,” she said. “My brother can have a bestie if his wife allows it, but my husband can never have a female bestie.”
James also spoke about dealing with harsh online criticism, including claims that she ‘snatched’ her husband—rumours that had a serious impact on her mental health.
Veekee and Femi got engaged in late 2023 and married on February 10, 2024.
