The boy, identified as 16-year-old Yusuf Sabiu, was found in Dadin Kowa village in Doguwa Local Government Area. His discovery initially sparked confusion after he reportedly claimed to be a Spanish national named “Alex Ansol.”
However, police authorities said a thorough investigation later revealed his true identity. According to the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the teenager is a Nigerian who had been separated from his family for about 13 years.

The police command appreciated the role of journalists, media organizations, and social media users whose swift dissemination of information helped in locating the boy’s family.
Authorities also urged parents and guardians to promptly report missing persons to the nearest police station, emphasizing that early reporting significantly increases the chances of recovery.
They further advised separated or divorced parents to maintain proper communication concerning the welfare of their children to prevent similar incidents.
