Residents of Ndiolumbe community in Isiala Ngwa South Local Government Area of Abia State have been thrown into mourning following the alleged killing of a man, Ukaegbu Ogii, by his kinsman, Okwudili Mbama.
The suspect, popularly known as Nkume, was said to have confronted the victim before launching a violent attack on him.
During the altercation, Mbama allegedly drew a sharp object and stabbed Ogii in the neck, leaving him critically injured.
The attack was reportedly linked to accusations that the deceased was having an extra-marital affair with the suspect’s wife, Mercy Mbama.
Sources in the community disclosed that the suspect had grown suspicious after receiving reports and rumours from some residents about an alleged close relationship between his wife and the deceased.

It was further gathered that he had also confronted his wife over the issue prior to the incident, which heightened tensions.
According to the sources, Mbama’s suspicions later turned into repeated confrontations with the victim, including an earlier assault weeks before the fatal attack.
Despite efforts by community leaders to settle the matter, the dispute reportedly remained unresolved.
Eyewitnesses said the suspect fled the scene immediately after carrying out the attack, abandoning the victim who was later rushed to the hospital.
Confirming the development, the Abia State Police Command said the case was reported at the Omoba Divisional Police Headquarters on April 5 by the suspect’s wife.
Police spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, disclosed that officers visited the scene and ensured the victim was taken to a medical facility, where he was confirmed dead by a doctor.
She added that the body has been deposited in a morgue for autopsy, while efforts are ongoing to track down and arrest the fleeing suspect.
The police also stated that investigation into the incident is ongoing.
