The management of Great Kezino Nursery and Primary School in Ikorodu, Lagos, has dismissed claims made by a former teacher, Rukayat Tobiloba, in a viral TikTok video alleging that she faces imprisonment over a defilement case.
The school clarified on Tuesday that Tobiloba was not charged with defilement, but was instead arraigned alongside another staff member for alleged negligence following a 2021 incident involving two nursery pupils.
In the widely shared video, Tobiloba denied any wrongdoing and appealed to Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to intervene in what she described as an unfair targeting.
However, the school said her narrative does not reflect the facts.
According to the Head Teacher, Mrs. Toyin Edaolaropin, the incident came to light on October 26, 2021, after a pupil reportedly complained at home about pain during a bath.
The child’s mother alleged that a male classmate had inserted a pencil into her private part while at school, a claim the school immediately rejected.

“The following morning, the father denied the mother’s account, and when police were involved, they discovered that the accused pupil was about three years old,” Edaolaropin said.
The matter later escalated legally, resulting in negligence charges against Tobiloba and her assistant, Rukayat Lawal.
The school maintained that it supported Tobiloba throughout the process, hiring a lawyer to secure her bail and covering her transportation, feeding, and welfare during court appearances.
Edaolaropin noted that the assistant teacher was discharged after about a year of litigation.
Tobiloba, who worked at the school for just six weeks before the incident, reportedly became unresponsive to court summons after relocating to Ibadan, prompting the court to issue a bench warrant for her arrest.
She was eventually arrested and remanded at the Kirikiri Correctional Centre in March 2025 after failing to appear in court for several months.
The school stressed that it only became aware of Tobiloba’s recent viral allegations when the videos surfaced online, insisting that her claims misrepresent the facts of the case and the school’s continued support.
