The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, to investigate multiple sexual misconduct allegations against Senior Pastor Chris Okafor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries.
The directive follows widespread public outrage triggered by allegations that have circulated widely on social media in recent days.
Asenexress.com had reported that the cleric stepped aside from his pastoral responsibilities on New Year’s Day as the controversy intensified, with several women—including Nollywood actress Doris Ogala—publicly accusing him of sexual impropriety.
Last Sunday, Okafor publicly apologised to Ogala during a church service, kneeling on the pulpit as he acknowledged past “mistakes” and asked for forgiveness.
The investigation comes weeks after the pastor’s wedding to a woman identified as Pearl on December 16, 2025. The ceremony was attended by several prominent religious leaders.
Initially, the Lagos State Police Command said it could not act because no formal complaint had been submitted by any of the alleged victims. The police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, stated on Friday that she was unaware of any official petition against the pastor.
However, following further inquiries by newsmen Adebisi confirmed on Sunday that the commissioner had ordered the SCID to invite Okafor for questioning and summon the alleged victims for interviews.
“The CP has directed the SCID to invite the pastor for investigation, even though no formal complaint has been filed,” Adebisi said, adding that witnesses would also be asked to provide statements to aid the probe.
She further disclosed that she had personally contacted a YouTuber who interviewed some of the alleged victims to obtain direct access to the witnesses.

The controversy began on December 14 when Doris Ogala shared a series of emotional videos on Instagram, alleging that she had a sexual relationship with the pastor that started in 2017 and lasted nine years. She claimed Okafor repeatedly promised to marry her but later wed another woman.
Ogala also accused the cleric of sharing her explicit images and videos, contributing to the collapse of her previous marriage, and causing her emotional and financial hardship. She posted bedroom photos, screenshots of alleged conversations, and videos claiming the pastor offered her $10,000 to withdraw her allegations and blame a rival pastor.
Through her lawyers, Ogala later demanded ₦1 billion in damages, alleging threats, intimidation, and unlawful arrest and detention by the police.
As the scandal grew, other women also accused Okafor of sexual misconduct, manipulation, infidelity, and abuse. Among them was his former wife, Bessem Okafor, who alleged infidelity, deception, and physical assault.
However, some members of the church have dismissed the accusations, describing them as attempts by individuals seeking to extort money from their pastor.
