Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested 18 suspects following a violent clash in Ilemba Hausa, a community in the Ojo area of Lagos State.
The incident, which involved groups of youths, sparked panic among residents after videos surfaced online showing individuals throwing objects at one another as tensions escalated.
Confirming the arrests on Tuesday, the command’s spokesperson, Adebisi Abimbola, stated that all suspects are currently in police custody as investigations continue.
She noted that security operatives responded swiftly to the unrest, bringing the situation under control and restoring calm to the affected area. Senior police officers have since been deployed to maintain order and prevent a recurrence.
Residents have been urged to remain law-abiding and cooperate with security agencies by reporting any suspicious activities.

A police source disclosed that the Baale of the community has been invited by the area command following the extent of damage recorded during the clash, which reportedly included the looting of shops by some youths.
Meanwhile, the police have debunked circulating reports alleging that two officers, including a Divisional Police Officer, were killed in a related incident at Iyana Ojo.
Describing the claims as false and misleading, Abimbola clarified that no lives were lost, either among police personnel or civilians. She also dismissed viral videos linked to the incident as inaccurate and unrelated.
The command cautioned the public against spreading unverified information capable of inciting panic, urging residents to rely only on credible and official sources.
Police authorities reiterated their commitment to maintaining law and order across Lagos State, assuring residents of continued security presence in the area.
