
Gunmen have killed a 35-year-old man, Sufiyanu Garba, and abducted his wife during an attack in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi State.
The incident reportedly occurred in the early hours of Thursday. Confirming the development on Friday, the Kebbi State Police Command said it had launched a full investigation into the attack.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bashir Usman, said the command was concerned about the incident, which led to the death of Garba and the abduction of his wife.
According to him, police detectives quickly visited the scene after receiving the report and began investigations.
Usman said the victim was rushed to Sir Yahaya Memorial Hospital, where a medical doctor confirmed him dead. His body was later deposited in the hospital’s morgue.

He added that a police checkpoint was located close to the area and noted that timely information from residents could help security agencies respond faster to emergencies.
The Commissioner of Police has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to take over the case to ensure a thorough investigation, with the aim of rescuing the abducted woman and bringing those responsible to justice.
The police also assured residents that efforts were being intensified to strengthen security across the state and urged the public to promptly report emergencies through the command’s 24-hour distress lines.
