Kanu Voices Alarming Fears About His Stay in Sokoto Prison

The Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Oji River, Rt. Rev. Ikechukwu Egbuonu, has revealed key concerns raised by Nnamdi Kanu during his visit to the IPOB leader at the Sokoto Correctional Facility.

According to the Bishop, Kanu expressed worries over his heart condition and the difficulty of pursuing his appeal due to the long distance between Sokoto and Abuja.

Kanu reportedly lamented that he has only a 90-day window to reconcile court records in Abuja but has not received any directive for transfer to enable him do so. He was also unsettled by the limited access to his legal team.

Addressing rumours, the Bishop clarified that Kanu did not sack his lawyers. Instead, he chose to personally lead his defence while retaining them as consultants.

One of the lawyers was present during the Bishop’s visit, confirming ongoing collaboration.
