Fear and tension have gripped Kadarko in Kaduna State after armed bandits stormed the community, abducting the parish catechist, his pregnant wife, and 30 other residents.
Rev. Fr. Linus Matthew Bobai of St. Joseph Catholic Church explained that the attackers struck at dawn, breaking into homes and ordering residents to gather in groups.
“They came in motorcycles and vans, surrounding the village from different directions. They forced people into vehicles and left quickly,” he said, describing the terrifying ordeal.

The priest added that most residents fled immediately, seeking safety in nearby villages, leaving only a few behind to protect the community.
“Over 98% of people have gone to a nearby village. Those of us who stayed are fewer than 40,” he said.
Fr. Bobai noted that soldiers briefly visited the area after the attack, but their presence offered little reassurance.
Despite the danger, the priests and some villagers remain to support those who could not leave.
Authorities are yet to confirm the whereabouts of the abducted individuals, as residents continue to plead for urgent intervention to secure their release and restore safety to Kadarko.
