Inec: Phase 1 Voter Registration Ends December 10

INEC has announced that in-person continuous voter registration in Yobe’s 17 LGAs will conclude on December 10.

The preliminary voter register in Yobe State will be on display for claims and objections from December 15 to December 21, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced on Wednesday.

According to Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, Yobe State INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), this period allows registrants to correct errors in their biodata, including names, wards, and National Identification Numbers (NIN). Complaints arising from these claims and objections will be addressed on December 21.

Abdullahi also stated that the second phase of continuous in-person voter registration will begin on January 5, 2026, recalling that continuous registration started on August 18 with online registration and August 25 for in-person registration.

He emphasized that registering voters and producing an accurate register are fundamental to the electoral process and among INEC’s primary responsibilities. Section 10 of the Electoral Act 2022 (as amended) mandates the Commission to conduct continuous voter registration.
