I’m like an open book, Tiwa Savage says

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has spoken openly about her struggles with trust, personal boundaries and friendships, offering a rare glimpse into her private life during an interview with content creator Korty.

The award-winning singer admitted that her naturally open nature has often left her vulnerable.

“I trust people easily. I am very trusting in my home; I am very open. I am an open book,” she said.

Tiwa explained that her openness extends even to her personal spaces, noting that she rarely hesitates to accommodate people she considers friends.

“If you are my friend and you want to stay over in my hotel, you are welcome. That’s how open I am,” she added.

However, she acknowledged that such openness has sometimes worked against her, forcing her to reassess how she relates with others.

“Maybe I am too trusting. I am learning about boundaries. Once you start setting boundaries, you lose people,” Tiwa said.

She noted that learning to establish boundaries has become even more crucial since becoming a mother, stressing the need to protect her son.

“I’m learning how important it is to set boundaries for the safety of my son as well,” she stated.

Tiwa also revealed that she has rarely experienced being alone, sharing that she only recently went on her first solo vacation.

“I’ve never really been by myself anywhere in my life. The first time I travelled alone was this year when I went to the Maldives by myself, with no team,” she disclosed.

Reflecting on friendships, the singer admitted that her career and lifestyle have come with personal sacrifices.

“I have lost many friends, and maybe I have missed weddings,” she said.

Despite this, Tiwa emphasized that the friendships she has maintained are deep and long-standing.

“I don’t have many friends, but the ones I have, I’ve been friends with for over twenty years.”
