Abia State Governor Alex Otti has announced that he has “activated” measures to secure the release of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who was sentenced to life imprisonment by the Federal High Court in Abuja on November 20.
Otti revealed that he began working toward Kanu’s freedom even while the trial was ongoing.
“While Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is free to appeal his conviction, I’m happy to inform you that I have activated and will continue to work on the already agreed strategy until his freedom is secured,” he said in a statement on Saturday.
The governor also confirmed that he communicated agreements reached with “the highest authorities” during his visit to Kanu in DSS custody in Abuja.
