A devastating fire swept through Wannue in Tarka Local Government Area of Benue State, destroying over 300 houses and large quantities of farm produce.
The blaze has left about 95 households homeless, with many families struggling to cope with the loss.
Victims said the fire started while they were away, and neighbors alerted them as their thatch homes and food storage went up in flames.

Among the destroyed items were essential household belongings and farm produce including yams, cassava chips, melon, and maize.
Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. Residents are appealing to the Benue State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) and well-meaning Nigerians for urgent assistance as they try to recover from the disaster.
