
A fire outbreak on Monday affected a section of the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation building in Abuja, causing panic within the Federal Secretariat Complex.
The incident, which occurred in Section C of the building, drew the attention of emergency responders from the Federal Fire Service who were immediately deployed to the scene.
Confirming the development, the Public Relations Officer of the service, P. O. Abraham, said firefighters swiftly responded to the emergency and successfully brought the situation under control.

He assured Nigerians that there was no cause for alarm, noting that the quick intervention of firefighters helped prevent the flames from spreading to other parts of the building.
Eyewitness videos circulating on social media earlier showed thick black smoke billowing from an upper floor of the multi-storey structure around 8:00 a.m., raising concerns among workers and visitors in the area.
Staff members within the complex were seen evacuating the building while emergency officials worked to contain the blaze.
Officials from the Office of the Head of the Civil Service also confirmed that the fire was restricted to one section of the building and that response teams acted quickly to manage the situation.
As of the time of filing this report, authorities had yet to determine the exact cause of the fire, adding that investigations would commence once the situation is fully stabilised.
