Three CNG-powered buses were destroyed in an early morning explosion at Mando Motor Park in Kaduna.
The vehicles, owned by Silver Luxury Transport Company, were reportedly parked and being prepared for scheduled interstate trips when the incident occurred around 3:00 a.m. No injuries were recorded.
A manager at the park, who spoke anonymously, said the buses were empty at the time and had recently been acquired. He noted that the explosion has raised concerns about the safety of compressed natural gas (CNG) technology, suggesting that its use may still be poorly understood or managed locally.

Police authorities in Kaduna confirmed the incident, clarifying that it was not a bomb blast but a mechanical failure involving a gas-powered vehicle. According to a statement from the command’s Public Relations Officer, preliminary findings indicate that one of the buses exploded due to overfilling of its gas tank.
The affected vehicle has been removed, the area secured, and a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause and prevent future occurrences.
