Ex-Delta North Senator Peter Nwaoboshi Passes Away

A former senator who represented Delta North in the National Assembly has died at the age of 68.

The lawmaker reportedly passed away in Abuja on Friday, though details surrounding the circumstances of his death were still unclear at the time of this report.

The deceased, Peter Nwaoboshi, served Delta North in the Senate and was known for his strong advocacy for Anioma interests during his time in the National Assembly.

Reacting to the development, Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, expressed profound grief, describing the death as a monumental loss to Delta State, the Anioma nation, and Nigeria as a whole.

In a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Festus Ahon, the governor hailed Nwaoboshi as a dedicated son of Delta State and a bold voice for his people, noting that his contributions to nation-building would remain enduring.

The governor also recalled the late lawmaker’s distinguished tenure in the National Assembly, particularly his service as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, where he played a key role in advancing development issues in the region.

Oborevwori described Nwaoboshi as a dedicated public servant who lived a life of service to his people, his political party, and the nation, leaving behind a legacy of bravery, loyalty, and unwavering commitment to public duty.

“On behalf of the Delta State Government and the people of the state, I mourn my dear friend, Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi,” the governor said.

“I extend my deepest condolences to his family, the Anioma people, members of the All Progressives Congress, and all whose lives he touched.

May God grant his soul eternal rest and give comfort to everyone mourning this irreplaceable loss.”
