
Operatives of the Edo State Security Corps (ESSC) have successfully rescued a truck driver and his motor boy who were abducted by kidnappers in the state.
The Deputy Commander of Operations, Richard Balogun, confirmed the development while speaking to journalists in Benin City.
According to him, the victims 37-year-old Sani Muhammed and his 25-year-old assistant, Nazifi Rabiu, both from Jigawa State were kidnapped on March 30, 2026, at about 11pm.
The incident occurred along the Benin–Okene road near an army checkpoint in Auchi, located in Etsako West Local Government Area.

Balogun disclosed that the victims were rescued on April 5, 2026, at approximately 6pm during a coordinated operation by ESSC operatives in the Alimogiza Forest, situated in the Anwain area of the same local government.
He further revealed that the kidnappers, numbering about 10, had already initiated ransom negotiations with the victims’ families, demanding ₦60 million before the rescue operation was carried out.
The victims also reported that the abductors had allegedly killed one of their captives.
Despite the successful rescue, Balogun noted that at least seven other victims are still being held by the kidnappers, as efforts continue to secure their release.
