
The Edo State Police Command has arrested Osabohien Ogieva, a 42-year-old commercial bus driver, over the death of his 32-year-old girlfriend, Joy Jerome, in Ikpe community, Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area.
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Eno Ikoedem, confirmed that the victim’s body was discovered along a roadside near a river.
Responding to a distress call, operatives from the Idogbo Police Division transported her to a hospital, where she was confirmed dead and later deposited at the mortuary.

Investigations revealed that the suspect and the deceased were in a romantic relationship. During questioning, Ogieva reportedly admitted having a disagreement with Joy while conveying her in his bus.
He allegedly abandoned her body near the river and went into hiding, later contacting the family claiming he had not seen her for days.
SP Ikoedem said the suspect is currently in police custody and will be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
In a separate case, three suspects were arrested in Kano for the killing of a housewife and her six children, following an intelligence-led operation.
