A massive fire swept through Faringada Market in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State early Wednesday, destroying 20 shops and leaving traders counting heavy losses.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) reported that the blaze erupted around 6:00 a.m., primarily affecting shops dealing in vehicle spare parts.
Four containers and two vehicles, a bus and a Toyota Corolla, were also consumed by the fire. Fortunately, no injuries or deaths were recorded.
NEMA confirmed that its Jos Operations Office, together with the Federal Fire Service, responded promptly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to other parts of the market.
