
Tragedy struck Jato Aka in Kwande Local Government Area as an internally displaced person, Mr. Terzungwe Orbam, reportedly took his own life.
Orbam had fled from Ikyoawen in Turan, a community recently plagued by insecurity. Eyewitnesses said he purchased a toxic chemical from an agrochemical shop in Jato Aka, reportedly with the intention of ending his life, and ingested it outside the premises.
He collapsed shortly after and died before any medical assistance could arrive.
The deceased was married and is survived by two children, leaving his family devastated.

Residents and acquaintances suggested that the pressures of displacement, the trauma of losing his home, and financial hardships may have contributed to his tragic decision.
His body has been moved to the mortuary, leaving the community in shock. Many described the incident as heartbreaking, noting that the underlying reasons behind his actions remain unclear.
“This is very painful. Nobody seems to understand what he was going through,” a local resident said.
Authorities have yet to release an official statement on the incident.
