Suspected cult-related violence has claimed the lives of two men in separate incidents in Lagos and Ogun states, raising fresh concerns over rising insecurity in affected communities.
The first attack occurred on Saturday near the Federal College of Education (Technical), Akoka, in Yaba, Lagos.
The victim was reportedly ambushed by a group of about six suspected cultists and killed during the assault.
According to a police source, the incident began as a confrontation along the road leading to the school gate before escalating into a violent clash.
The victim was fatally stabbed in the head. Authorities believe the attack may have been a reprisal linked to ongoing cult rivalries in the area.
Confirming the incident, the Lagos State Police spokesperson, Abimbola Adebisi, stated that one suspect had been arrested while investigations continue.
In a separate incident in Ogun State, another man identified as Cegaga, alleged to be a member of the Eiye confraternity, was killed in Magboro’s Gas Line area.

Reports indicate that the attack occurred around 11 p.m. on Saturday following a dispute over money between the deceased and a suspected member of a rival cult group.
Residents said they only discovered the victim’s body the following morning, as the incident happened late at night after most people had retired indoors.
The killing has heightened tension in the community, with locals expressing fear over the increasing frequency of cult-related violence in recent weeks.
Some residents called on security agencies to intervene urgently before the situation spirals further out of control.
Efforts to reach the Ogun State Police spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, for comments were unsuccessful at the time of filing this report.
The incidents add to a growing pattern of cult clashes in the region, following earlier reports of similar killings in Lagos
