
A 35-year-old man, Malime Ejor, has been arrested for allegedly killing his 26-year-old girlfriend, Moshie Igu, over accusations of infidelity in Nwang Village, Ekajuk community, Ogoja Local Government Area.
According to local residents, the incident occurred early Saturday morning around 6:00 a.m. at a farm where the couple reportedly had a heated argument about alleged extramarital affairs.
The disagreement escalated into violence, during which Ejor allegedly attacked Igu with a machete.
A resident who witnessed the aftermath said, “We heard the commotion and rushed to the scene, but he was already attacking her.
We could not stop him immediately, but we later restrained him and handed him over to security operatives.”
ASP Sunday Eitokpah, spokesperson for the Nigeria Police Force in Cross River State, confirmed the arrest and said a full investigation has begun.

“The suspect is in custody for his safety while the investigation continues. The victim’s remains are yet to be deposited at the General Hospital Mortuary, Ogoja, as necessary arrangements are being made,” he said.
The police also revealed that the case will be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a thorough and discreet investigation.
This incident comes shortly after a similar tragedy in Ibadan, Oyo State, where a 29-year-old man allegedly killed his 26-year-old girlfriend.
Both cases have sparked outrage and calls for swift justice from residents.
Authorities have urged anyone with additional information about the Cross River case to cooperate with law enforcement as investigations continue.
