The Benin Traditional Council has revealed that a Queen in the royal household may be removed following an alleged breach of palace protocol involving popular social media influencer Habeeb Hamzat Adelaja, widely known as Peller.
According to an official statement issued by the Council’s Secretary, Frank Irabor, the incident occurred on March 6, 2026, when Peller reportedly gained unauthorised access to the sacred premises of the Oba of Benin’s Palace.
The visit, described as a serious violation, was said to have disrupted the peace and dignity of the palace.
Preliminary investigations by the Council have already led to disciplinary actions against those involved.
A chief linked to the incident has been suspended indefinitely, while a palace staff member, identified as Mr.
Omuemu, has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force and charged with breaching public peace and facilitating the unauthorised entry.

The Council also confirmed that a Queen who appeared in connection with the visit is currently undergoing disciplinary proceedings, which could ultimately result in her removal from the palace.
Meanwhile, Peller has been summoned to appear before a committee of chiefs to explain his actions. However, the Council noted that he has yet to comply with the invitation.
Authorities have now issued a directive demanding his immediate appearance alongside a written and unreserved apology. Failure to comply may attract legal consequences.
Reaffirming its role as the guardian of Benin customs and traditions, the Council stressed its commitment to preserving the sanctity of the throne and warned that any attempts to undermine the institution would be firmly addressed.
